Original Non-Skid
In some of the Potter Seacrafts, like the one below, the non-skid on the cockpit sole was done in strips with smooth spaces between. I'm looking for the width of the non-skid strips and the width of the spaces between, so I can duplicate it.
Thanks, Dave

Re: Original Non-Skid
2" non-skid then 1/2" smooth,then 2" non-skid., etc.

Re: Original Non-Skid
yuppers, If you can duplicate it let us know how you did it, I have a couple of spots that are wore through and have been pondering how to fix them.

Re: Original Non-Skid
I've done it. Just use 1/2" elec tape to stripe it off then add textured paint flates to the paint to give it the raised, rough, antiskid feel.

Re: Original Non-Skid
Thanks, Jim, that's just what I needed.
Rod, Not sure on my process yet. We have a local boat mfgr that is very helpful to DIYers and I want to see how they do theirs and go from there. Don't want to reinvent the wheel. I'll be masking it like Jim suggested. just don't know if I'll be using paint or gelcoat. I'll post it on my 25 resto thread when I get there. Dave

Re: Original Non-Skid
Give this 1/2" tape a try, it's what I used and it did a fine job.

I used that 3M tape Don is linking too. Worked pretty good for my hatches and floor patch.

Re: Original Non-Skid
Here is my job. I actually used colored marking tape too. It is exactly 1/2" wide and strong. Standard electrical tape is 3/4" wide and a little too wide for my taste. Also I was trying to match up perfectly with the adjacent panels. See the last picture.

Re: Original Non-Skid
Someone on here made a new floor on a layup table with strips. I remember seeing it and thinking d**n what alot of work for a floor. That was back when I was a newbe. When I finally decide to rebuild my 18, thats the route I'll take.
