weak casting platform
I am sure this has been discussed many times and if so, can you tell me which thread might help the most? My 1974 twenty foot CC has a weak casting platform. What are the best options to strengthen it? Thanks!

Re: weak casting platform
I am actually having the same issue with my 69 20SF. There are cracks forming at the corners of the fishbox that are spreading to the deck....

Re: weak casting platform
No expert but here is how I fixed mine.Cut around casting deck leaving about three inches of room around edges grind gel coat off of edges.Pulled of top layer of fiberglass.Dug out all wood most was wet.Let the bottom layer of glass dry and get it real clean.Buy one sheet half inch ply and cardboard to make a stencil of the shapes needed.Apply plenty of cabosil use drywall screws to hold ply down to bottom layer of glass let cabosil mixture set up take out screws fill holes with resin and cabosil around edges and gaps and roll resin on top of bare plywood let all that set up and sand it a little clean it.Then added three layers of 1708.That made a very sturdy deck and have not had any problims in 3 years on it.I'm shure I did something wrong that someone will point out but it worked for me was a cheap fix and only took me a few days someone with more talent could do it in less.
