removal of awlgrip below waterline? anyone done?
Anyone ever do this via soda blast? or at all? I am researching soda blasting for awlgrip removal to replace with aquaply m or interlux vc epoxy below waterline(epoxy barrier coats but no bottom paint after), so can leave boat in water without worry about blistering....and trailer 90% of time. Have mooring access on occasion on Cape to squat here and there.
Cannot find anybody whom has ever done this with soda blasting, and trying to avoid sanding awlgrip. Easy path maybe is 2 awlgrip over repair job and forget about mooring more than 2-3 days... Prob gonna have a guy try a test patch next to the hull repair and see how it goes with soda blasting.... Oh, the bracket is aluminum, so have to address that as well since is imron (same as awlgrip far as water concerns), and would need barrier coating and treating diff than the glass hull . This maybe more hassle and money than worth to have boat on couple occasions at a mooring for more than 3 days being told awlgrip is good for....
