Just jumpin in, I'm redoing my 1970 20'cc and am putting a 1998 200 OX66 on it, any input on the engine and setup? I'm raising the transom, I'll be posting pics in a bit, gotta make some more progress, plan to be done by the trip to the keys.

Re: 200 ox66 on a 20cc
Caymanboy,
Unfortunately I cant give you first hand experience on this setup as my boat is not finished yet. I have an older yamaha 200 that I will be hanging on my boat. NADA lists your motor at 420 lbs. Here's what I think. If you move the batteries and oil reservoir forward under the console and make sure the gas tank is as far forward as possibe (this will require removing some of the foam directly in frot of the tank) and redirect your scuppers out of the transom then the scuppers should be above the waterline without anyone in the boat. Now if a couple of guys are standing in back then they will most probably be underwater. I will install the TH Marine ball scuppers on the transom to take care of that situation. As far as performance goes, I think the 200 will be great. A fast 30+ mile/hour cruise and hopefully 3+ miles/gallon. If you ever need to haul ass then you will definately will be able to with the 200 ponies on the transom - probably 50+ mil/hr. I raised my transom to 25 inches and cut out the splash well and extended the floor back to the transom. If you go this route, you free up a little space back there and give the boat a little more modern look but you will run into motor mounting problems as the lower two bolt locations are just in line with the floor level. I'm still thinking of a good solution to this. Hope this helps. Maybe someone with this setup will chime in and give us first first hand knowledge instead of all my speculation. -will |

Re: 200 ox66 on a 20cc
I have twin 200 HP OX66's hanging off my 23'. Very solid engines.
Stoney also has a OX66 and I think that he gets 3+ miles per gallon on a 23 footer. Peter

Re: 200 ox66 on a 20cc
I dont think that motor is a 98. I think they didnt have fuel injection on the 200 until 99. I have a 98 200 (carbed) on my Sportscraft and it has been a great motor.

Re: 200 ox66 on a 20cc
Thanks for both replys, I believe it is late 98', they may call it a 99', but it is definitly not carbed, glad it worked for both of you. I hope it works (or contines) for me.
