23' CC prop selection, Enertias?, Peter B please

Peter B, that's a pretty boat you have. What props are you turning? I see you have a bracket whereas I only have 6" setback jackplates, but I wasn't ready to cut up the boat and close the transom and don't like the look of an open transom with a bracket. I am currently spinning 21P Lasers, but have tried SWS 19P, Rapture 21P, Old Mirage 21P, Mirage Plus 21P, and Mirage Plus 19P. The SWS, and both Mirage Plus' props made the boat want to porpoise with any trim out and slam into any head sea/boat wake. The Old Mirage (12+years ago) actually gave the best fuel economy and ride, but they were borrowed props and I haven't been able to find an unworked set since. I am about to pull the trigger on a set of 21P Enertias but would love any input from anyone in the know before if possible. Thanks, Skyler

Currently, I have both 21" & 19" pitch SWS props. The 19" props give a slightly better ride.

However, I am on the lookout for a pair of 19" 4 blades (Powertechs or Revolution 4's). Everyone that I have spoken to swears that I will get much better stern lift, as well as better handling. I believe them.

PS My previous SeaCraft had 17" SWS props (twin 150 Yamaha SWS engines mounted directly onto the tansom). That boat handled great.

Thanks for the input. I wanted to try some 4 blades myself, but have heard that there is a speed compromise. It is not all about speed for me, but I do like the speed I have now, particularly the cruise, although the top end is nice too. I don't think I could swing a 21P in a four blade, but what I have learned is you never know how a prop will do until you actually try it on your boat. I didn't lose any RPM from the SWS 19's that came with the boat to the Michigan 21's. Probably because of the difference in diameter and cup. Using the prop slip calculator on go-fast.com I had like zero slip with the SWS 19's compared to normal slip with all the smaller diameter 21P props. Hey Rip,
Bushwacker borrowed my mirage + 17p and did a comparo. His 4 blade Apollo beat me everywhere I expected. He also beat me in top end by close to 2 mph. Fr Frank can you explain that? I`m still trying to figure that out.....

gofast, thanks, it goes to show you never know until you bolt it on and run it. I just feel like the enertias have a better chance of giving me what I want. I would definitely try a set of four blades if I got the chance. I have found a guy on THT running a business called Prop Gods. He seems to be very knowledgeable.
