Default Trim Tabs

Getting ready to install a set of 12X12 Lenco tabs on a 23 Sceptre, where is the best place to install - between the outer hull edge and the first step or across the step? The tabs will fit within spec between the outer edge and the step but was curious if this was the best location.
Thanks for any info.

After looking at the hull and comparing to the drawings, there is only one way to properly mount and that is from the hull edge to the first step. Is this correct?

Eddie, I like mounting them near the chine because it provides max rolling moment with minimum tab deflection. Min deflection = Min drag and fuel burn! I control running angle mainly with engine trim and use the tabs for roll control, unless it's really rough and/or am heavily loaded and want to plane at 11-12 mph, where the tabs also help low speed low speed planing. This is where i mounted mine(12 x 12 Bennetts)on my 23 Tsunami,as recommended by Bennett Marine.
They are drop fin tabs,a closer picture of the drop fin is in the second picture.

John123, don't want to highjack a thread, but quick question on your picture concerning the kicker. How does the low mounting affect your boat with the kicker?
