23cc w/ 200HPDI Performance?
I'm considering selling my Scout 202 and purchasing a 23 Seacrat with a 200HPDI on a bracket. Can anyone offer any performance numbers for this setup? From browsing here, I see most people are running f250's and up on this hull.
Any info would be great. |

Old 23' w/bracket and 250 Yam. OX66 here, it gets the job done but loaded to fish (120+ gal. fuel, ice, 45+ gal. bait well, etc.) it's minimal. 300 - 400 HP would be no problem. The 200 HPDI is a fine motor.

Re: 23cc w/ 200HPDI Performance?
Have you taken it for a spin yet (the 23')? I would be interested to hear how you feel it compares to your 23'.
I have seen other 23's out there powered by a single 200 HP. I would guess you would have a WOT of the mid to upper 30's. Mileage wise, i would go to the Yamaha web site and see how other 23's (such as Sailfish, Contender and Regulator do). i think that they have those numbers posted. I would use them as a rough baseline. A real wild guess from me is you would get 2.5+ miles per gallon. Good luck. Peter

Re: 23cc w/ 200HPDI Performance?
I used to have a 23' Tsunami with an '88 OMC 225 looper. Cruise at 26-27, WOT at 37-38 with standard OMC SS prop. WOT fuel burn of 22-24 gph. Cruise fuel burn was 18-19 gph. VERY thirsty motor.

Re: 23cc w/ 200HPDI Performance?
I have a 23 sf with a 200 yami OX66. Top speed is 39mph. It could be higher if I went for a different prop. Top speed is not important to me. I cruise at 4000 rpm, 30 mph, 3+ mpg. The yami is bullit proof. I had a 225 ocean pro, but it threw a rod. The 225 was 3 mph faster, but 1.8 mpg hurt.

Re: 23cc w/ 200HPDI Performance?
Stoney,
Those are some pretty imressive numbers that you have there. I have been told that the HPDI's should be about 20% better on fuel than the OX66's. If that is true than a single HPDI could get over 3.5 MPG at cruise. With my twin 200 OX66's I get about 1.6 to 1.8 MPG. (Stoney, BTW I saw you and your buddy in August on GSN fluking). Peter

Re: 23cc w/ 200HPDI Performance?
Peter,
I believe the mileage number. Not because of the navman F3100, which is on it's second sender and due to be trashed because they won't replace the non working display, but because I travel 60 miles fishing and put in 20 gallons somtimes 15 gallons for the last 3 years. I believe my boat is a lighter 23SF than most I've seen. I removed the livewell in the back relpaced the transom with Coosa 26, have a 100 gallon tank, and I think the foam is dry. Sitting at the dock the corner of the transom is only in the water 1/2" and the splash well drains are 3" above the water. Sitting next to Scott's boat mine sits 3" higher. It also feels lighter than scott's when riding in it, but that might be because he drives fast and me and my herniated disc's like slow rides. I also have seen the hull thickness cores that other people cut out of the hull and mine is not that thick, maybe 5/16" thick at most. So I have a light weight 23SF but I love it with the 200 Yami. I just need more fishing time. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...2seacrafts.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...y/transom2.jpg
