Porta Bracket- need feed back

So here is what I'm thinking, alot of people tell me I get in trouble when I think to much, but here it goes. You can see pics of my boat under 20' seacraft galleries. I currently have a Galleymaid flotation bracket w/ 29" of set back from the Transom and then I have a bob's manual jackplate that is reversed so that I have an aditional 3" of set back from the bracket. Mounted on the jackplate is a Yami HPDI 200 that weighs in at 466 lbs. My thought is to remove the jackplate and the bracket and install a Porta barcket (www.portaproducts.com )it is a non flotation bracket that would move the motor approx 15" forward/towards the transom and I would also gain 12" of vertical lift at the push of a button. There is three objectives I'd like to get out of making this change 1. Looks 2. Move the motor closer to the transom 3. Remove all that extra weight from the transom when trailering. O.K. there's four, 4. I get 12" lift at the push of a button. Porta Products also makes a bracket with 21" setback and 17" lift. ANY THOUGHTS!

I think these are great. They make a bracket with a 17" setback and 12" lift. That's what I would go with . . . would let you get into some skinny water and minimize drag.

It's hard to believe that three aluminum plates, 4 hinges, and a hydraulic ram/pump cost $1500.

I installed a Porta Bracket on my 18' Archercraft skiff and loved it, the package never gave me a moment of trouble and the boat could literally go anywhere as long as there was water to be picked up. The bracket is the equivalent of installing a blower on your street car and going to Arby's on Friday night, it will turn heads. It IS expensive and unless you have a legitimate need (I did, avg. water depth 3" to 3' around me), I would look at a Bob's Machine Shop unit....good stuff and much cheaper.
