How to put the new tank back in?

Any thoughts on the best way to put in a new aluminum tank? The old one was foamed in, didn't seem to have any problems, but the foam was loaded with water. So I had a new 100 gal tank fabricated. I'm planning on using David Pascoe's method for installing the tank.

Based off of this method, does anyone see a problem with it?

Rich,Im going to replace my tank soon. Can you share who made it and how much.Did the old one come up easy ? Did you have to remove the console.wAS THEIR ALOT OF FOAM UNDER THE TANK OR JUST ON THE SIDES? RS.

I've looked at that method too. Looks good to me just a little more involved than the foam method. I would think its better to do it that way though (using Pascoe's method). The last tank install was a combo method.....rubber strips on the bottom of the tank and foam on the sides [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] Oh yeah when I pulled the foam off the sides of the tank there was quite a bit of corrosion....and from the looks of the topside of the tank it wasnt that old.

Just an FYI .... I took my tank out last fall and it was only foamed on the sides. It came out real easy ... so to speak...just jammed a saw down in the foam and started to hack away. Sooner or later it will break free ( there's always the come-along and chain method of tank removal [img]images/icons/shocked.gif[/img] ). I've got the larger console on the boat and was able to get the tank out without removing the console. What made that easy was that I did not have any bulkheads forward or aft of the tank...but will most likely put in bulkheads when it goes back together.

RICHARD...SCOTT:

YOU guy's are going to be the death of me[just kiddin]. BEFORE you do anything to those new tanks, paint, epox. anything to seal up the tank before you drop them into the hole.

If your going to use rubba under, use lot's of it, just don't use a few pcs.

you get into trouble when there is nothing between the tank and the rubba, water get's inbetween the two and will start to rot out the day you put it in, same with the sides.

THE TANK NEEDS TO BE SEALED all the way around. Before you do anything with it.

Of coarse you can do what most do an just throw it in say screw it, good enough. that's why YOUR putting in new one's now.....just like I did.

I ALSO REPLACED MY 100 GAL TANK WITH A 120 GAL TANK WITH IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS I ALSO USED DAVID PASCOE’S METHOD OF PUTTING IN A TANK. IT WORKS GREAT AND HE MAKES A LOT OF SENSE ON WHY YOU SHOULD DO IT HIS WAY. I DID MODIFY HIS APPROACH A LITTLE BY PUTTING TWO BRACKETS WELDED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK ONE IN THE FRONT AND THE OTHER IN THE BACK JUST IN CASE. IT MADE ME FEEL BETTER BUT THE TRUTH OF IT IS A PROBABLY DIDN’T NEED THE TWO BRACKETS. IF I EVERY HAD TO TAKE OUT THIS TANK I THINK IT WOULD HAVE TO COME OUT IN PIECES THAT 5200 WON'T WANT TO QUIT DOING IT’S JOB.

But really....the tanks I have quotes on all included the epoxy coating....One of them was even willing to knock off $75 bucks if I did it. I think I'll leave the coating work up to them.....dont feel like getting coated myself!!! [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img]
