Default rigging hull vents to bilge

Restoring a 23SF and am planning on keeping my hull vents. When I broke the boat down, there were two boxes glassed to the vents with round holes in the bottom, but nothing attached. Can I assume these went hoses or some kind run into the bilge proper?

How do those who keep the vents rig them. I'm converting an I/O to a bracketed Outboard.

Those were for air inlet to bilge and exhaust from bilge blower

You won't need anything additional if they're in the stock location. Mine were originally covered and I opened them back up. The bow vents fall in the vertical "channel" that meets the under-deck area outside of the stringers at the rear of the casting platform. The stern has no channel but rather is wide open. If you're using plastic vents I suggest making or have someone make a picture frame type border from aluminum. This has saved my vents when fenders are deployed.

Got it. So do you still have the boxes installed inside the hull? Or nothing at all?

Mine never had a "box". That may have been an IB thing and not an OB thing.

Take a look at the white hoses coming out of the boxes you were describing. My is a 23sf outboard. Hoses went down into the bilge.
