Default 20 or 23 CC I/O

I have a 350 mag/alpha package sitting in my garage that I want to find a home for. How many 20 and 23 SeaCrafts CCs were built in I/O config?

Anyone know of any projects for sale?

Thank for the help and advice.

My family had a 23 cc in the 70s with a 225 and then a 260 stern drive- 1,000 hours of run time. The boat much preferred the 260. A great sea boat- I'd highly recommend the configuration: but deck space is tight behind the console. A fishing captain I know was tuna fishing off the northeast last year- 100 miles from shore- came upon a 23 stern drive with fuel bladders forward of the console.

I think a 350 is too much for a 20. I have one in the 25, but that's big and heavy for a 20. Even though it is forward of the transom.

Click on the CSC Home link in lower right corner and then look in the Literature section for the Potter era production numbers.

That's way more power than you need in a 20; most had the 140 hp I-4 Mercruiser and would run about 40 mph with that. The extra weight would be forward of the transom so CG shift would probably less than with an OB on a bracket, but I think the exhaust manifolds would be a very tight fit under the engine box. I think Strick's Sceptre 20 had a V-8 in it; he might have some pics of that installation before he yanked the engine. It was a tight fit as I remember!

There is a 25 Seafari for sale in the Northeast. A project boat. But it fits a 350 Mag well.

Just finished 74-23CC with that package. Just shaking out, looks like it will be outstanding.
By the way is that a 357 reman by Merc?? If so the HP and Torque are under rated.

As much as I am really looking to sell the 20 that is listed in For Sale, that package would not work. I personally think it might be a death trap.

I do have a 25 Bertram Hardtop, for sale. that needs power and it is in your area. Mattituck to be precise.
Will send pics to your e-mail listed in my 20 ad.

Thanks Bob. I like the idea of the 23 CC with the I/O. I have a friend who had a 20 Bertram Sportsman CC that had a V8 in it and it did sit pretty low in the stern, so I would concur that a 20 SeaCraft would also sit pretty low. The other boat I am considering is a 20 Bahia Mar....but my first choice I think would be the the 23 SeaCraft. I have an 18 SC now that should be complete by spring. I'm selling my 16 Donzi hull to complete that project...
