Re: clean and wax
Best I ever used was the Colonite paste. Not easy or hard to apply, just seems to last and do the job. Remember that I am in the more northern clime's though, including a shorter season.

Re: clean and wax
Forget about wax - give Polyglo a try and you'll never fool with wax again! PowerBoat Reports tested it against a couple other coatings for over a year and said all the marketing claims for it were basically true. I believe it's some sort of urethane emulsion, have used it for several years and am convinced. Other folks that have seen my boat with it's original 1972 gel coat have also tried it and concur with what I've learned. If you leave it exposed to the intense S. Fla. sun & UV, you'll have to redo it every year, but if you keep the boat covered when not in use, it's good for 2 or even 3 years. If your boat is badly oxidized, you might want to lightly wet sand it with something like 800-1000 grit first. The HD cleaner that comes with the kit is pretty strong and will leave the surface very dull looking. The first couple of coats will show streaks, but after 5-6 coats it has a "wet" look that is an amazing transformation from what you started with.
However if you're a glutton for punishment enjoy compounding, buffing and waxing, PBR tested all the popular waxes several years ago and concluded that Collinite Paste Fleetwax was the most durable. (good for ~ 6 months in S. Florida.)
